Thanks to my Hartford friends for throwing a baby shower and for all the great gifts! A special thanks to the guys that came to the shower, enduring all the baby talk : )
Yesterday we spoke with Brandi at Lutheran Social Services and were told that our travel dates will not be determined until our completed dossier is sent to Colombia. So, I'm off to the secretary of states office this morning to get all of our documents Apostilled. What is an apostille? It's the state's way of verifying that the notaries that stamped all of the documents are in fact licensed notaries. I am dropping off the complete apostilled dossier to the Lutheran Social Services on my way back, so they can get it sent to Colombia right away. Then, hopefully we'll get our dates within the next couple of days.
Many people have asked how long we will be in Colombia (Especially at work ; )
The average time spent in Colombia is 6-8 weeks, while we wait for all of the documents to go through the courts. Luckily, we will be presented with Emmanuel within a couple of days of our arrival and then he'll be ours! We'll be living in a hotel that is specifically for adoptive families. The rooms have a crib and they have many other amenities for adoptive families, so we should be very comfortable during our stay. Well, that's it for now, but will post more once we have our dates.

Dulcie, you look stunning in these photos! You look soooo happy! I hope you're thoroughly enjoying this time. :) We're slogging through the dossier update now, too (4th time!). Although we aren't on a time crunch like you guys. Still ... FBI prints are in WV right now and the other documents are trickling in. We'll be set then through the rest of the year.

Congrats on your new baby boy. He is adorable. We have been in Colombia now for 10 days, as the adopting parents of 2 precious and VERY ACTIVE boys, ages 3 and 5. We are staying at zuetana 106. The staff here has been fantastic in assisting us in translation and communicating with our boys. The food here is OK, but the staff here more than makes up for everything. If you have any questions on anything regarding Colombia, we would be happy to assist. We look forward to meeting you. We are anticipating being here through mid October. We will continue to follow your blog, and again.....Congrats.

Hoping that all goes smoothly and quickly with your dossier and that you are squeezing Manny's cheeks before you know it! We'll be watching closely for a travel date soon!!

Dulcie and Johnny - Congratulations! You have got to be thrilled to finally have your travel date set. We'll keep praying that everything goes well and you'll soon have Manny sleeping in the baby room you've waited to fill for sooooo long. He looks so sweet. Have fun! and can't wait to meet him.
